Sharon is incredibly sociable and welcoming — from the moment we met her, she radiated friendliness and positive energy. She’s bubbly, approachable, and genuinely invested in making sure her guests have the best possible experience. She took us to amazing spots we would never have discovered on our own and gave us opportunities to interact with locals in a way that felt natural, respectful, and truly memorable. This was fabulous. Often “local food tours” actually take you to mainstream or tourist spots that serve local food. Sharon did not. She took me to actual lunch spots where working Kenyans get their grub—but the yummiest of these :) these were stalls, alleys and restaurants that I would’ve passed by on my own. The food was delicious and safe for European stomachs (at least mine). Throughout, Sharon showed amazing warmth, friendliness and knowledge—greeting acquaintances, explaining the dishes and norms, deftly fending off excessive curiosity with a joke in Swahili (there wasn’t much of this! And what curiosity there was, was good-natured and fun.) Highly recommend. Note: this is NOT “gourmet” in the sense of fine dining or hipster street food for expats. It is true local stuff—cheap, yummy home cooking and plastic chairs.
Sharon was amazing! She was so insightful during our tour and pointed out so many things that we wouldn’t have otherwise seen or known about. She made us feel safe at all times and we would definitely recommend this tour for anyone wanting to know more about Kenya and their food. Thanks Sharon!
