Emanuele's tour gave me a lot of insights into Neapolitan history and culture. He has a very authentic and blunt approach in telling the history of Napoli and makes true efforts in bringing the locality (the people, the specialties, the businesses) to us. You can tell his priority is not to give us a neatly packaged, aesthetically pleasing, and romanticized version of Napoli, but a genuine account on the Neapolitan experience -- which includes both the beautiful and celebrated things but also the adversities and upsetting aspects of the city. Emanuele has a strong relationship with community, where I witnessed the locals supporting his tours and cheering him on as he goes. It's the first time I've seen such adoration and support on a tour, which adds to the authenticity and respect of his account. He delivers a critical perspective on tourism and the impact visitors like me have, which has not only impacted my view of Napoli, but also my role as a traveller on an international scope. He empowers tourists to affect change on our destinations in a way that encourages the local culture and way-of-life to survive. I recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn more about Napoli without the sugar-coated, blue-sprtiz marketing. Thank you for a very memorable morning!
