The tour guide repeatedly asked if there were any questions at the end of each stop. He has excellent, native-like English with a clear and neutral accent, making it very understandable. If you wished for a better understanding, as the tour guide suggested, you could have asked any questions between stops, as he was very open to clarifications.
Did you ask the guide anything? Did you seek any clarifications? If not, it is difficult for the tour leader to know your needs if they are not communicated.
Additionally, there was plenty of information about Porto's history, architecture, and the Old Walled Porto in relation to today's Porto. Was there any specific reason why you didn't approach him personally? Communication is key to avoid these situations and fullfil everyone's needs.
