Very nice experience exploring San Jose, discovering sides of the city that you could not see if walking around by yourself. Totally recommend :)
Entertaining and very informative tour that made me wish I had more days to explore San José!
The tour was great. Our guide had much to share about San José history, trivia and interesting details about how Costa Ricans developed a sense of identity and unit as a nation. This is not a free walking tour, though. I joined this tour to get to know the City Striders’ work and buy other tours with them during my stay in San José and was not prepared to give a big tip for this (supposedly) free walking tour. At the end of the tour, when the guide was collecting tips, I separated the money I could give to this first tour, and the guide complained about the fact it was not much, and put some pressure to receive more money for the tip-based free walking tour. I emptied my wallet and felt it was not a very Pura Vida way of finishing the tour. This unfortunately made me refrain from booking paid tours with them, which was a shame. It’s a great tour, but be prepared to pay 15-20usd per person, in case you don’t want to be as pressured at the end of your walk through San José and spoil a bit of the Pura Vida Costa Rican experience.
