RUDE and misleading tour guide! Advertised as a free tour (pay what you want/can as a tip at the end). As it was our last day in Vietnam, we planned to use up the rest of our money as the tip - d160,000 Vietnamese Dong. As a reference, we usually paid around d50-60,000pp for a meal and a drink in a restaurant, so this seemed like a reasonable amount for a free tour tip. At the end of our tour, Thang rejected our money, claimed it wasn’t enough, and told us he has a minimum fee of $10USDpp plus tips on top, which was not advertised, and was more than we had. On free walking tours there’s not a set price, so this was surprising. Everyone in the group was taken aback and insulted by his rude and unprofessional behaviour and lack of humbleness by not accepting anything below his invented set price, and since he wouldn’t take the money, everyone in the group left without paying anything. Thang then followed up by sending rude, insulting and sarcastic messages on the guruwalk site individually and in the group thread. He even accused my husband and I of encouraging the rest of the group not to pay, which is 100% untrue. Extremely unprofessional and he has been reported to the site by us and by the other members of our group (who we did not know before the tour). Messages sent to us by Thang after the tour: “It's $10 payment for the tour, NOT tipping, nor rewarding. Don't ever tell me to be humble when you are not paying for the tour. You don't pay me just because you are cheap backpackers, and took a good reason to run away by saying I am not humble. I hope you have more runaway tours in your trip.” “It's not paying for me it's like an insult, I knew you both were cheap backpackers so I Didn't want your money, I gave you the money back very politely, not throwing. Your husband and you keep forcing me to keep the money and it spoiled all other guys, none of them paid me and all walked away. Your husband even go higher, trying to teach me about humbleness, what kind of humble do you have when you don't pay for your services? And made other follow your cheating way to run away from paying, how well educated you are?”. Ironically claiming he didn’t want our money, then proceeding to send messages about how we ran away without paying… We will not be taking a tour with guruwalks again.

Abi and Dani - Once you booked the tour, there was auto messages sent stated very clearly about the payment. - At the beginning of the tour, I also mentioned it and stated very clearly that: IF you are not happy in the end of the tour, I will not take any payment, in the end of the tour, I asked you all about the tour: you all said it was good. - When you and your husband gave me 6,5USD after my 3 hours tour, I was very politely told you that I appreciate your payment, but I don't take anything less than $10 per person, and if you don't have money, you just don't need to pay. That's all. Instead of feeling appreciated for a free tour and take your leave, you and your husband keep questioning me why, why and why. I do have right to NOT take your money, but you keep trying to talk nonsense trying to show people how generous you were, and how bad I was for not taking your tiny payment (which you think it's a tip) - I didn't want your money because it's too little to be meaning anything, but you and your husband have gone too far to insulted me more just because I didn't take your money. In a conclusion you got a free tour, and instead of showing your appreciation, you and your husband went further insulting me by trying to teach me "humbleness", you also spoiled all others and made them all walked away without paying the tour, then you keep insulting me via the message, and now you trying to blow up my reputation on the site. Is that the way you usually show your appreciation toward others?
