Hi, I'm Hayley! I am from London in the UK and have been living in the beautiful, historical town of Tarragona for almost 5 years now in addition to Sabadell (another Catalan city) for 3 years prior to that.
I have a BA Hons degree in Hispanic Studies with Portuguese (focusing on the Spanish and Portuguese languages, Hispanic and Lusophone history, and Linguistics) from Queen Mary University of London. In addition to tour guiding, I am also a Languages Teacher by profession. It is my passion for different cultures and languages which brings me to Spain, and the rich history and Mediterranean sea that brings me to Tarragona :)
I am an avid traveller myself (46 countries so far and over 200 cities and counting!) so I am aware of what is interesting to tourists when visiting a new place and aim to create the experience I would want for myself when tour-guiding others.
In addition to having travelled to many places across the world, I have also lived in the Middle East (Bahrain), studied in Portugal, attended work experience in Italy and have lived in 3 other Spanish cities: Salamanca, Almería and Melilla (a Spanish enclave in North Africa).
As someone who is passionate about languages, I also studied Italian and Arabic outside of my degree and now I am working on Catalan :) But I also have many other hobbies asides from learning languages and travelling e.g. art (painting and drawing), history, music, dance, singing and composing music, playing the guitar, sport and martial arts (I am a black belt in Taekwondo).
One of the things I love most about tour guiding, is being able meet new people from all around the world so we can share and learn new things from one another! :)
We had a fantastic walking tour of Tarragona with Hayley! She was incredibly knowledgeable and brought the city’s rich history to life as we explored its highlights. From the impressive Roman ruins and the hidden corners of the Roman circus to the stunning cathedral and lively plazas, Hayley gave us great insight and context every step of the way. It was a very hot day, but we all survived—and still managed to enjoy every minute of it. Her passion for Tarragona really came through, and it made the experience both informative and enjoyable. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city!
Excellent tour, lots of information.
An unfortunate start in a very crowded and noisy square being used for a gay pride rally. Would have been better to leave and go elsewhere but we understand that Hayley wanted us to see the moving clock. Good but entirely drowned out by the shouting dj. The rest of the tour to the Roman remains etc, was very good and we enjoyed it.
After a disjointed start due to musicians popping up everywhere Haley provided a very informative and enjoyable tour of the key sights of Tarragona.
