My name is Tom and I am History Swiftly. I am a U.S. history teacher in a local, suburban school district and am passionate about teaching history and sharing that love of history. Over the last 20+ years as a teacher, I’ve taken students from Quebec City to Boston to Gettysburg to Annapolis to Washington. Philadelphia is always a favorite tour. I enjoy sharing all of the wonderful history and fun Philadelphia has to offer and offer recommendations on how best to see the city!
Great two hours tour covering the highlights in Philly center with a fantastic guide! We do free walking tours in every city we visit and Tom has been one of the best guides we found so far: knowledgeable (he's a history teacher), expressive and engaging. It was a pretty chilly day and he even brought hot chocolate and marshmellows :)
The tour was superb! Thomas is a middle school history teacher by profession and is remarkably knowledgeable about Philadelphia history. He was engaging, conscientious about every attendee, and we cannot recommend him highly enough. We have gone on many very good city walking tours -- Thomas was the very best guide!
Tom was fantastic! We had an absolutely phenomenal experience on this walking tour of Philadelphia! Tom was incredibly knowledgeable, weaving fascinating historical details with engaging storytelling that brought the city’s past to life. From Independence Hall to Elfreth’s Alley, every stop was filled with insights that went beyond the surface. What made the tour exceptional was his ability to answer questions and personalize the experience, even sharing hidden gems and local tips. His passion for Philadelphia’s history and culture was contagious! Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a local, this tour is a must-do. Highly recommend!
