Roy was great, I leaner a lot about history and very interesting facts about the emperors and their lives. The place was crowded but not as much as the forbidden city. Roy was friendly and respectful, smiling and answered all of our questions, he also made questions of his own to keep us active and made sure we didn't get lost. His English also surprised me, I was able to understand everything he said. I definitely recommend him. Would have liked to see more places with him but we could do that afterwards.

I read so many good reviews for this tour and maybe that was why my expectations where higher than what it really was. I know you can't know every single detail of every place or that there's not much to say about stuff. We only saw the markets, no buildings, historic places, or structures so there's as much as you can say of each thing, but as we walk I think you can provide interesting data about things or places we are passing by, like cultural information. I asked about why there were so many stored about this and that, and the guide knew the answers and kindly replied to me. He was very friendly and respectful, but also young, so maybe not as experienced as other guides. I enjoyed it, it was interesting and I got to see the market and buy stuff, just maybe give more interesting facts that are day by day habits for people that live there.

Response from Hong Kong Free Tours
Hi Natalie, Thank you very much for giving your review. Reviews are what we rely on to improve the quality of our tours. Here is some background you may want to know about this tour: 1. We understand that a visit to Temple Street Night Market and Ladies Market is an integral part of everyone's experience in Hong Kong. However, as a Hong Konger, no local would ACTUALLY go shopping at these highly touristy markets. As a result, the intention of this tour is to bring people to visit ACTUAL markets where locals shop for their daily necessities, instead of merely walking through markets as an attraction. By walking through these markets, you can understand how Hong Kong operates as a vertical city and how businesses are organized. These are cultural elements of this tour. 2. This tour was launched in mid-August 2024, which means you may be among the first participants. Perhaps we could communicate the first point better in the future to set expectations correctly at the beginning of the tour, instead of having someone expect to see historical places or structures. For history buffs, please join our "Introduction to Hong Kong" tour instead. Thank you very much once again for your review, and please give us another chance to serve you next time you visit Hong Kong. Regards, Michael
