Unbelievable Bucharest started as a family business, as we wanted to share our passion for the city, being born and raised here: an aunt and a nephew. Since then, a lot more guides joined us, all of them with the same love for the city. We like to tell stories, jokes, history, traditions and never forget that our tourists are actually our extended family!
Tudor is a knowledgeable guide, and his overall performance was strong. He demonstrated a solid understanding of the topics and provided insightful explanations throughout the tour. Taking us to the Communism Museum was particularly meaningful, as it helped us better understand Romania during difficult times. I also appreciated his empathy in allowing a short break during the three-hour tour. Additionally, his detailed presentation about the Parliament building made the experience engaging and informative. That said, I would like to share a few points of feedback for improvement: During the introduction, when I mentioned that I come from China and the Netherlands, he followed up by asking what brought me to the Netherlands. In my opinion, this felt a bit too personal for a first interaction. He asked whether Asia or Europe is “better.” This question puts the guest in an uncomfortable position of making a value judgment. A more appropriate approach might be to ask about the differences between the two regions instead. When I commented that the weather felt cold the previous afternoon, he responded by saying it was not cold at all. While differences in perception are normal, directly dismissing a guest’s experience can come across as impolite. A more balanced response would acknowledge differing perspectives. When I noticed a car with British license plates and expressed excitement about how far it had traveled, his response was that it was “just a Romanian living in the UK” and that such cars are very common. This reaction felt dismissive and made me feel somewhat disrespected, as if my observation was naive. Overall, while Tudor has strong knowledge and potential as a guide, attitude and communication style are equally important aspects of the experience. For this reason, I cannot consider this a five-star tour. I would rate it three stars, with the hope that this feedback helps him continue to grow and improve in his role.
Gail was excellent, she brought what could be a dry subject to life with lots of humour and family tales of the time
