Robert is a charming guide, he speaks clearly (with a Canadian accent) without using a microphone. The amount of information given was just right, not overwhelming and he never took lightly of the true side of history either. He has great sense of humour too. We enjoy the 2.5 hours walking with him. And the list of recommendation sent by him after tour was nicely prepared and I have tried some on the list, really nice pick. I could tell that he is passionate at his job. I also liked those quiz and little treats. This might not be related but he resembles Bradley Cooper in case you can’t find him at the meeting point😂
There was one of the participants fainted at the beginning of tour and Marco assisted her to rest while we continued. He was able to delivery the long history of Dubrovnik with tonnes of sense of humor. I haven’t met any guide who could speak so frankly like him, he could make you laugh and smile a lot. He also talked a lot of the present days situation and also speak from personal and first-hand experience. He also sent a list of recommendation, great effort. One of the best walking tours I have joined so far.
The storyteller (I forgot her real name) used to grow up within the Diocletian’s palace, I like that she encouraged us to try to put our perspectives into the lives of people who are still living there and respect their space. That said, she didn’t use any microphone like any other larger group and we stayed close to her to be able to listen while she is talking. The info she gave is detailed, sometimes she repeated herself though. She also knows the local people around and asked the four-member choir to sing for us, amazing! She gave us tips of where to visit after the tour.
Lidija always smiled, even when she talked about how harsh was the history and economic past and present of Zadar. She shared about how the local people dealt with the situation with some sarcasm. Sad but true. She is young and a person full of life and energy. Time past so fast and the tour ended so quickly I wished we could visit more places. She gave us some useful tips of places to visit nearby.
Mario guided us along a route which is very close to the centre part of Vienna but yet easily gets ignored if ones follow only the major touristic trails. He has chosen a very particular theme for the walking tour but he didn’t make it too heavy for the walkers to digest. Instead, he breaks them down and makes it pretty comprehensive. He also has great sense of humour and he is a meticulous person who pays so much attention to details. I was so amazed how precisely he could synchronise his speech with the moving music clock which started playing at noon. Portable speaker for him and earpieces for everyone is a win-win-win situation for him to speak, for the participants to listen and without disturbing people around. He also prepared surprise sweets and snacks for everyone. Professionalism and effort 100%. We have also joined the walking tour of Mario’s colleague Mirko which lead a different route. Together we have a more complete picture of Vienna’s culture and history. I would suggest to join both if you have time and energy while visiting Vienna.
