Hi! We are a family of four (kids aged 13 and 11) who live in Chicago and are traveling for the year of 2023. So far we have been in New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Tanzania. Alejandro is a good, high-energy, and knowledgeable guide and was skilled, friendly, and patient especially with keeping our kids engaged. However, while some of the sights at Mitad del Mundo are okay, we did not feel it was worth the time and expense to go all the way out there. So good guide, meh tour.
We had an English-language tour with Robert, Alejandro's colleague. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and took us through a great mix of historical highlights (with lots of context) and some fun experiences (including canelazo and chocolate), which was especially good with our kids involved. Thanks!
This was really informative and respectful of the community. I learned so much — and the experience was really enriched by being in Kibera itself. (Much of what is written about Kibera online may have been true before but seems behind the times now.) Also very impressed by the work that Daniel, Stella, Elijah, and their friends are doing with young people in Kibera.
Nicholas is a knowledgable guide who took us around the CBD. While we learned a lot, and got to go inside a couple places like the library, most of this was historical context delivered on the (noisy) streets. He was friendly and good with our (tween) kids.
Bridget was an amazing guide! She knows so much, responsive to our interests and questions about both sights and context, and was great with our kids. A lot of insight and information were packed into just a couple hours — even if there was a lot more to see, she pointed us to options we could explore further.
