My guide was Jason (sp?) and I really enjoyed the experience. He provided a good mix of history/storytelling + sightseeing from residential to tourist areas, including stops for coffee/chocolate tasting and beautiful viewpoints. He was knowledgeable and entertaining so it made me forget how exhausted I was after climbing up steep hills. But I was relieved when we finally arrived at the escalators!! I was solo, so at the end of the tour, Jason helped me call an Uber and waited with me until I was safely inside. His kindness is sincerely appreciated and I highly recommend this tour.
This was a great tour that exceeded my expectations! It was a full cultural immersion into the smaller villages and gave me insight into the way of life for Guatemalan people. Riding the chicken bus with Pablo was a treat because I never would have done it by myself. I loved visiting the family businesses to hear their stories and learn how they made a living. The first stop with chocolate/wine tasting was my favorite. Pablo is a great guide, compassionate, energetic, and fun to be around. This tour is highly recommended.
Loved learning the history of Guatemala
The guide canceled the tour.
San was very friendly and outgoing, so I enjoyed him as a tour guide. The information shared about Thai culture and Buddhist faith was greatly appreciated. My next comments are not a critique of San himself, but shared for future walker awareness and constructive feedback to possibly improve the tour. Although we stopped for breaks to buy water and use the bathroom, I thought the tour was too long. Some stops were more interesting than others, one I skipped. By the time we arrived at the last stop (flower market), I was exhausted and ready for the tour to be over. My Apple device tracked over 12,000 steps - equivalent of 5 miles. If you can happily walk for 5 miles and over 4 hours in the afternoon sun/heat, this tour may be ok for you.
