Hello guys, I am a professional tourism guide, passionate about telling you many things and showing you my city and its cultural history and gastronomy, I will be very excited to meet you, we will live extraordinary experiences together every time we walk the streets, squares and many more.
I have been on 20+ free walking tours booked through guruwalk, with an array of experiences, overwhelmingly positive or at the very least neutral and well-intentioned; the walking tour with Willy was not a good experience overall. He started by acknowledging the city is full of scams and needs to be changed, then proceeded with information that was pretty boring: facts, figures, dates, and some names. There were no stories, lore, or myths, it was not remarkably interesting or educational, there was a part of the tour about 30 min in where he attempted to give us a comletely unecessary "break" and take us into a restaurant where a drink was "included" we brought water so we declined the drink, his energy changed at that moment, throughout the tour he kept asking us what we were doing for the rest of the day 4-5 times despite us telling him we work remotely and have work for the rest of the day, he also kept prying at where we were staying, what area of the city, what the hotel was called, we finally said we were staying at a friend's house to get him to stop asking. After walking through some of the city and more facts and figures, the tour was over, we attempted to tip, he became offended and claimed the price was 50,000 per person, and that we were texted that information, we showed him the text with the organizer that there was nothing of the sort, I tried to give him the tip again, he wouldn't accept it and tried to negoiate a price for the tour, we told him it was a free walking tour and we were tipping based on the experience we had, he said we were bad people, we told him to accept the tip or nothing as we had to go to work, as we walked away he followed us for a short period of time, I would not recommend this tour to anyone.
William was very knowledgeable of the history of Cartagena and a very nice person.
I had the luxury to be the only one on tour with Willy. The tour lasted for 2 hours included the walled city and Getsemani. I really enjoyed the history walk.
i did not see the last minute communication (confirmation?) thro Whats App and the guide did not show up. he did however try to reschedule but our cruise was departing
Will is extremely knowledgeable about history, not just of Cartagena but of the overall events of history that affected Cartagena's foundation. He explains with an extreme amount of details each building and guide the tour as if we are walking through time, from the past to today. Worth it, I would highly recommend.
