My name is Diego Escobar Castro. I’m a former school teacher, a father to a curious 5-year-old boy, and a proud ambassador of my city. I am also the founder of *Better with a Teacher*, a project created for travelers who want to truly understand the history, culture, and unique character of Santiago and Chile.
I have cycled more than 6,000 kilometers throughout Chile—across the Atacama Desert, the Carretera Austral, the Elqui Valley, and the Cajón del Maipo—as well as parts of Argentina. I’ve also completed numerous hikes around the country, so I’m always happy to share recommendations with anyone seeking outdoor adventures.
I completed my studies in Valparaíso, where I trained as a tour guide. Because of that, I love sharing the local stories, heritage, and hidden gems of that iconic port city to help visitors appreciate it even more.
Due to the growing popularity of this tour, I’m no longer able to guide both Spanish- and English-speaking groups simultaneously. For that reason, especially during high season, I am primarily dedicated to the English tours.
Please note that *Better with a Teacher* also includes other qualified history teachers—**Fabián, Felipe, and Melissa**—who are passionate experts and wonderful ambassadors of Chile as well. If you choose a tour in Spanish, one of them may be your guide.

El tour con Melissa estuvo excelente. Se los recomiendo! Aprendimos mucho de historia, arquitectura y cotidianidad del lugar. Respondió nuestras dudas y nos dio excelentes recomendaciones para comer, y sitios por conocer. Sabe mucho de historia y eso es un plus, porque nos podía responder preguntas complejas sobre el contexto histórico. Fuimos muy felices. Gracias por enseñarnos tanto.
Entretenido, con contenido que capta lo más importante de cada hito histórico. Todas las preguntas que tuvimos fueron respondidas, y me gustó que a pesar de ser 3 horas, en ningún momento fue cansón porque el guía dio lo mejor de sí para hacerlo ameno.
