Diogo was a terrific guide. He shared interesting historic information about Porto/Portugal mixed in with cultural tidbits and humor. He was also sensitive about finding shady spots to talk when we stopped and to make sure our group could hear him well. I highly recommend!!
Diogo is a 5star guide. He is funny, knowledgeable about general history, Portuguese history, Porto and places of interest. He remained behind after the tour to answer questions and gave a link to his information.
Here’s a more natural and personal version in your tone: Yesterday’s experience was honestly shocking and incredibly disappointing. We arrived so excited for what was meant to be a once-in-a-lifetime Camino experience in Porto. Some of us had met in Porto and decided together that we wanted to join the tour. The bookings were made separately — three tickets on one side and four on ours — because we were never one pre-arranged group, just travellers who met here and decided to do the experience together. After a very long walk from our hotel, we arrived excited and greeted the guide politely. From the very first moment, her attitude towards us was rude, hostile, and confrontational. The first thing she asked was whether we were “a group.” We calmly explained that we had separate bookings and had only met in Porto. The moment she realised we knew each other, her attitude became even worse. She aggressively insisted that we were “a group of six” and should have booked differently and paid an extra €13 per person. We tried explaining the misunderstanding respectfully and even said we would happily have tipped her more than that because we were genuinely excited for the experience. Instead of handling the situation professionally, she became increasingly unpleasant and kept repeating in a rude tone that the €13 per person was “expected” and “company policy.” To avoid conflict, we agreed to pay it, but the situation became even more uncomfortable when she had no change and continued speaking to us in an extremely disrespectful manner. The entire atmosphere felt hostile and unwelcoming to the point where we eventually decided not to go on the tour at all. It completely ruined the experience for us. Some of our friends may never have the opportunity to visit Porto again, and this was meant to be a special memory. Instead, we were made to feel unwelcome, embarrassed, and uncomfortable from the moment we arrived. Customer service costs nothing. Kindness costs nothing. Unfortunately, neither was offered to us.
