Hakim is a wonderful, enthusiastic guide with a lot of knowledge. He kept the tour fun and upbeat through the KL sun. It was a good overview with a bit of everything and he went above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome And give lots of information.
Unfortunately this tour was quite disappointing. The route was badly structured, with just a walk down and up again on the same street. There was no starting overview of history and general context (despite a specific request to do so) and the information given seemed random and uninteresting, with no linking thread between them. The guide seemed confused and distracted, repeating some information various times and constantly on his phone texting and accepting calls. He also made a number of inappropriate comments, criticizing other tourists and other people passing by (she is a liar, she is fat). We learned almost nothing new in 2.5 hours that we didn’t get from the guidebook introduction – no coherent history, no local insights, no new perspectives, and even some simple questions we asked he could not answer.
Perfectly pleasant stroll in the old town but not really a tour. Would be nice to get more overview on the history of Hanoi and Vietnam. The guide spent quite a lot of time asking how everything was in our countries (including a lot about money), when we wanted to learn more about Vietnam.
Super knowledgeable guide who can really take you deep into the history of this interesting city!
Energetic guide! She is very knowledgeable about history if you ask. The tour also contains a lot of more general (not historical) bits and pieces.
