A very informative tour with a passionate and knowledgeable guide of an important European city struggling to overcome its historical guilt. I couldn’t help but notice the city government’s blatant moral double standards with the display of two flags - Ukrainian and Israel - hanging outside St. Peter’s church in Marienplatz: one in solidarity with a people that are resisting an invasion; the other in blind support of an occupier enjoying impunity while committing ethnic cleansing of an entire civilian population it occupies illegally. Sad.
Disappointing & frustrating - Although I received a confirmation email for this tour and arrived at the meeting point ten minutes before the agreed time, this guide never showed up. He did not send a cancellation message nor did he respond to any of the text messages I sent him via the app ('contact the guru') whilst waiting for him! I hope nothing serious happened to Flavio Andre but I this experience was a let down.
This was a well organised, thorough and highly informative tour of Salvador's historic centre. Adriano is knowledgeable, professional and clearly has a passion for his work. He extended the tour for much longer time, as he wanted to ensure we all appreciated the numerous sites the city has to offer. I could not recommend a more value-for money and enjoyable walk with a very friendly guide!
I absolutely love San Telmo. Pop-up art galleries, late-night bars and street murals create an unforgettable bohemian vibe. BUT I would caution on addressing the topic of horrendous human rights crimes, including torture, extrajudicial executions, and the imprisonment of thousands without trial committed by Argentina's military junta between 1976 and 1983 as this guide's view is that the matter is "controversial' as most victims were "terrorists"..
Amazing energy, deep knowledge, passionate, attentive and caring, friendly and professional. Couldn’t ask for more.
