All over the world, I have attended at least >20 free walking tours and frankly speaking it was the first time that I have ever quit. We were really disappointed but after one hour we couldn’t stand it any longer. To begin with, tour guides usually start with a very short intro of the group (name, country) - David just skipped it. Maybe we were way too many people (at least 30-40) - potentially it was because of New Year’s Eve when the city is busier. The guide talked through a microphone (none of the other guides we met on the way did this though!), which did not only make it embarrassing to join the super touristic tour but also incredibly hard to understand - the acoustics were almost unbearable, even more when he was walking in the front and talking at the same time. Moreover, he never really waited until everyone reached the next stop before he continued talking which made it hard to follow. After 1 hour there were merely 15-20 people left - not sure if he even noticed. There was almost none direct interaction with the group apart from chasing us to the next stop. He never asked if the acoustics were good, we could hear him properly if we had any questions. Never had such an experience on a free walking tour ever before and cannot believe no one has mentioned it in the reviews. It’s a pity, because we think David was most probably very knowledgeable about the city (that’s why 2 instead of 1 star), but we had such a hard time to understand what he was saying.
