The guide was not Juan but Lucia. She deputised for him at the last minute. She was charming, welcoming and highly professional. We were so lucky because my wife and I were the only guests! (Other people who had booked cancelled at the last minute) So, we got a private tour of the highlights of delightful Murcia. And what a tour it was! Lucia started by giving us a wonderfully informative history lesson of the history of Murcia and then guided us around all the magnificent old buildings inside the old city walls, taking time to stop at each and tell us a little about the architecture. Our tour included great insights into the culture and cuisine of Murcia and we had a chance to stop for coffee and discuss several aspects of Spanish life and language. One highlight of the tour was a walk around the indoor market, where Lucia spent time explaining about some of the kinds of meat and fish on display. We were absolutely fascinated by the huge range of unusual, delicious foods, one of which, the local speciality meat pie, we were able to sample later that day. All in all, Lucia was an excellent guide, who spoke impeccable English and we can only give her our highest recommendation for her duties as a professional tour guide and wish her every success with her future tour work.
