Sadly, the tour was not what I expected. And I expected the history of the French Revolution, as the theme is. Not once during the tour I heard the names of Danton or Marat - it must have been really hard to avoid them telling about the French Revolution. Robespierre was mentioned a couple of times - OK, and the only real sight related to the theme of the tour was the house where Robespierre lived the last years of his life. I beleive the guide was too afraid to tell people some serious stuff and tried to keep it entertaining. But I have chosen this tour hoping to really learn more of the French history in actual places where it happened. It seemed to me that the route was very little connected with the French Revolution at all. Perhaps, it would be better to lead this tour on the left bank - where there is the restaurant Procope used by Robespierre, Marat and Danton as a meeting place, the printing press where Marat printed his newspaper, etc.
Monica is a terrific guide - very knowledgeable, entertaining, engaging. She was able to give a lot of interesting facts together with valuable insights and personal touch. A pleasure just to listen to her! The route was somewhat awkward however - too touristy with a lot of people around, which made it difficult to navigate and too noisy to hear. Also, some of the photo stops could be shorter - if anyone wanted to make more photos, they could then go back individually.
One of the best tours I have ever had. Morgan was able to give a lot of valuable information and interesting facts about France, Paris in general, but of course mostly about the district where he was born and bred — Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Everything from history, culture, arts, architecture, lingustics, philosophy or cuisine... He should be a university professor!
Amazing tour! I was recommended to explore Le Marais by a friend, and I am really happy I took this walking tour first. Max told a lot of interesting facts and showed some places that I could later also explore deeper and in more detail.
The tour exceeded any and all of my expectations. The guide, Barbra, was just terrific! So knowledgeable and such a entertaining speaker! I am sure she could have talked non-stop for a week and still not tell everything she knows about the history of her country - Malta. And what a rich history it is! For me Malta was primarily about the Knights of St. John, but I have also found out a lot about other historic periods.
