Get off the beaten path into a small village. We took a bus and a small taxi but you can choose the mode of transport that you’re comfortable with. As this is a “free tour” expect to pay for transportation. The family we visited was lovely and the coop had a ton of pottery. I wish I could bring it all home. I really enjoyed meeting my guide and learning about his family.
This is as very informative. We were definitely off the beaten path and learnt a few things about the real Oaxaca. We even had a drink after as a group at a very local bar that makes their own mezcal.
